There is not much information on how young people feel and think about climate change in the Arctic. However, this knowledge is crucial in planning future policy for climate change and for the Arctic. The young people living in the Arctic should be able to have a say in how the future of the region is shaped.

ACAF launches a survey targeted to young people (under 30 years old) living in the Arctic region to collect such information. We are especially interested in the views of the young living in Arctic regions (USA, Canada, Denmark, Faroese Islands, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden). The survey questions are about the Arctic region and the changes and challenges facing it, especially climate change. There is a separate part in the survey for those identifying as Saami.  The responses form a valuable source of information that will be used for scientific research and policy recommendations. We are interested in opinions, views and values and there are no right or wrong answers. You can respond to the survey in English, Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian and North Saami.

Are you under 30 yrs? Living in the Arctic region? Have some thoughts on climate change?

You can respond to the survey here: Climate change survey for Arctic youth

Help us collect this information by spreading the survey in your networks!

Responding takes approximately 15 minutes (a bit longer if you answer to the Saami questions) and can be interrupted. If you wish, you can resume your response at a later stage via a link that will be sent to your email. The survey will be open until the end of February 2025.

Responses will be treated in strict confidence. Information about individual respondents will not be published. Personal data (such as name and address) will not be collected, and all data will be processed in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (2016/679).

The privacy statement on the processing of data in the survey can be found here in English, Finnish and Sámi. The privacy statement describes how your data will be processed. The results will be reported at group level so that individual respondents or responses cannot be identified. By responding to the survey, you agree to the storage and processing of your response data.

This survey is a part of the ACAF (Youth and indigenous peoples’ involvement in climate change adaptation in the Arctic and Barents region) project, funded by the Finnish Foreign ministry and coordinated by Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke). The project has the free, informed prior consent of the Saami Parliament and the Skolt Saami Village Assembly in Finland.
